Ex-ministro da Cidadania no governo de Jair Bolsonaro, Osmar Terra (MDB) declarou apoio ao novo comandante da Saúde, Nelson Teich, após o anúncio da sucessão de Luiz Henrique Mandetta. Terra repetiu o tom crítico ao isolamento social e pediu o "fim da quarentena inútil".

"Apoio ao novo ministro da Saúde, Nelson Teich, que ele conduza com a serenidade necessária o fim da quarentena inútil e a maior proteção aos mais idosos e mais frágeis", escreveu Terra, que atualmente é deputado federal.

Nas últimas semanas, Osmar Terra apareceu no noticiário como possível nome para suceder Mandetta no comando da Saúde. O presidente Jair Bolsonaro disse que conversava com o ex-ministro sobre temas relacionados à pandemia do novo coronavírus porque, segundo ele, Terra "entende do assunto".

No começo de abril, o deputado foi alvo de um pedido de cassação feito pelo PSOL na Câmara por "disseminar notícias falsas". Terra teve um post excluído pelo Twitter após escrever que "a quarentena aumenta os casos do coronavírus", e que "a curva da epidemia nos países que a adotaram mostra isso".
